and the speed with which it was delivered. My first order was for cozonaci (walnut bread) and brinzoici (sweet cheese stuffed egg bread.) With my second order, I added smoked Romanian sausage (carnatzi.) The quality of the baked goods is impeccable. The brinzoici are sweet and slightly lemony and the cozonac is swirled with a generous paste of ground nuts. Although I have not yet cooked the carnatzi, they appear plump and juicy, indicative of being freshly made.

They will let you order throughout the week and take down your number and information. When they are ready to ship, they call you back and let you pay by credit card over the phone. Shipping is 18.00, but it is well worth it for me because we do not have access to this quality of Romanian product here in the Detroit area. I have sent gift packages to relatives in other states and they too, were pleased with the packaging and speed of delivery. With the most recent shipment, they even included a lovely Christmas card!

I am very pleased with Ovy's product and I am very glad that he brings authentic Transylvanian style food products to all of us in strainatate (living abroad.)

Have to add my praises as well. I stopped by this morning--how can he have been here for over two years (!) and I just discovered him? Partly because the sign outside still reads "Le Patisserie." You have to look for Ovy's sign. This is not ten minutes from our house and were it not for this thread, I still wouldn't know about it. Small place, beautiful displays. I had trouble choosing from the selection but ended up with a number of items (including a savarin and some honey cakes that didn't last long enough to be photographed). Highly recommended.

Finally made it in today (to Ovy's) and I wasn't disappointed. Bought three items from the jewel-like assortment in the case: A crème (layers of puff pastry filled with vanilla crème patisserie), a Dobos (layers of thin yellow sponge cake and chocolate cream topped with walnuts and caramel), and a bun filled with cheese and raisins. The very nice lady at the counter gave me a freebie, something they had just cooked up: a chubby profiterole/popover, filled with citrus and chamomile-infused whipped cream, fresh raspberries, and fresh blueberries. Absolutely delicious; subtle, and more tangy than sweet. Highly recommended.

Also, there was a big round table, formally set, in the front part of the store. The nice lady explained that they were doing a catering tasting in the shop this evening, and I snagged a menu. It ran the full gamut - canapes, several appetizers, a sorrel soup and an endive salad, and a halibut main, in addition to the pastries (the profiterole/popover was mentioned as the plated dessert, served with a chocolate sauce).

I'll be back. (After I finish that dobos.) BTW, the total including tax for the three items I bought was $9.72. Not cheap, but better-tasting and more bang for the buck than, say, a $3 donut. :lol:

UPDATE: I had the cheese & raisin but for breakfast today - really delicious. Still moist nearly 18 hours later, slightly sweet, with a hint of orange peel in the yeast dough. Good eats!

Chef Ovy has catered a number of events for us, from an elegant sit-down dinner party in our home to a dessert buffet for a private party. What sets him apart is his immense creativity combined with a solid cooking technique, while able to go with the flow for any dietary restrictions/preferences. His dishes never cease to astonish us - they look absolutely beautiful and taste even better. He's also very confident and unflappable - he just gets it done!

Really not much I can add, the images speak for themselves, a true symphony of taste and flavor, a journey in the gourmet cuisine you don't want to miss ...

It was a small event, and we really wanted to enjoy a nice evening with a professional Chef who could serve us freshly prepared meal right in our home...Needless to say, not only was the evening a great treat for all our guests, but we also got to talk to him about the products he uses, and watch him put the whole meal together while we hung out and chatted in our open-concept living/dining room. The experience was easy from planning to payment, and all our guests commented on what a great idea it is to enjoy quality time with friends and family over a healthy, freshly prepared meal without the stress of preparing or cleaning after the fact! We've already got Ovy Catering committed for a Thanksgiving feast since its our turn to host this year.

People are still calling and complementing us on the food! It was fresh, delicious and a beautiful presentation. There were guests taking pictures of the tables, but there were no centerpieces. It was all Ovy's creations. Absolutely spectacular!

Me and my husband attended several events like Valentine's Day and New Year's Eve parties, Christening and wedding parties organized and catered by Ovidiu. He is very professional and a great chef. His food is delicios and very creative!

Best food ever. Very nice presentation, too. Ovy prepares very tasty appetizers, and delicious sauces. He catered 5 events hosted by me , and he has done an awesome job every time. All my friends asked me where I got the food. Ovy was always on time and the quality of his work exceeds all expectations.

He catered the wedding reception I threw for my brother and his wife in July for ~70 people and everything was flawless. He was very accommodating with all of the food requests we had and everything was delicious! I don't think it could have gone any better.
